A combination of education and experience were brought together to form this diverse
group of professionals who make up the staff of Generations Center. Working together,
this staff is responsible for the daily activities of the Center that include
- Educating professionals and the community
- Independent research
- Program development and evaluation
- Service on community boards / committees
- Center management
Dr. Sharon L. Walker, MPH, PhD, RN, CFN
President/Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Sharon Walker is the President/Chief Executive Officer for Generations
Center. Dr. Walker completed her nursing education in Ontario, Canada with post-graduate
studies in Occupational Health and Safety at McMaster University and an undergraduate
degree in Rehabilitation Studies from UT-Pan American in Edinburg, Texas. Her graduate
degrees were earned at the University of North Texas in Denton and Fort Worth, and
include a Master of Science in Economics: Labor and Industrial Relations, a Master
of Public Health: Health Services Research and a Doctorate in Sociology.
Dr. Walker joined Generations Center from the Victim Intervention Program at Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas, TX where she served as the Unit Manager. Dr. Walker’s professional interests include pattern injury recognition and the long-term health implications for surviving strangulation victims, sexual and domestic violence, substance abuse with a focus upon methamphetamines and forensic nursing. Dr. Walker is an accomplished social scientist experienced in survey design and delivery as well as statistical analysis. Dr. Walker is very active in community and state coalitions for domestic violence, sexual assault and forensic nursing.
